![]() Opinion noted, the good thing about all this is I have a choice where I spend my money. You effectively want a small studio of 20-30 people to fail and stop making unique games because they didn't want to work for free for 4 years just to give 30% of all sales to Steam - a multi-billion dollar near-monopoply who already makes more profit per employee than ANY other company in America. TBS wanted to make a AAA version of Chiv with Chiv 2 and it would not have been possible if Valve was the only option.Įdit: just think about what you said very carefully. ![]() Any monopoly will lead to a worse situation for consumers, even if you think it's more convenient for you now to have everything on one platform.ĭo you think the devs could work for 4 years on a new game without funding? That only works for large studios with multiple games and sources of income or indie devs who can work from home or do it as a second job. You have to think long term about where your games actually come from. Unfortunately, not supporting developers and forcing them onto a monopolistic platform which takes most of their profits will bite gamers in the a** in the long run when you find you have fewer developers who can afford to make games and less choice about what to play. I guess thats 1 less customer they could of had. Since it is exclusive for 12 months I will most likely just forget about it and move on. I hope it bites developers in the ass in the long run. All other PC games on the channel since Chivalry have been played on Steam Train and Steam Rolled.Originally posted by Lilboots: Epic supports developers far more than steam so you will see many more games being released in the future on Epic.
